THE GHOST IN THE MIRROR

There’s a ghost in the mirror.
He stares at me with haunted eyes.
I wish I could see him clearer.

He beckons me, come nearer
But I’m afraid of his lies.
There’s a ghost in the mirror,

Is it a dream or some dreadful specter?
Has he come for my soul or just my life?
If only I could see him clearer,

But imperfections in the glass disfigure
His image.  Is it me from some past life?
There’s a ghost in the mirror,

His face looks so familiar,
I can almost penetrate his disguise.
I wish I could see him clearer,

The glass begins to splinter
I see my fear reflected in his eyes.
There’s a ghost in the mirror.
I wish I could see him clearer.
