SUMMERS’ STORMY START by Bradford Middleton

 Work grinds on relentlessly as
Summer stutters to a stormy start
A months’ worth of rain in my
 Short time at work
3 1/2 hours of standing behind
 The check-out feeling bored
 Starring out the door
 Waiting for some simple action
 The end of my shift
 The end of the rain
 The arrival of a customer
 Or just simply death.

Bradford Middleton was born in London in the summer of 1971 but didn’t begin writing poetry until he landed in Brighton 36 years later.  Since then he’s been published all over the internet and in several journals and magazines, including Stray Branch, and this year was a Best of the Net nominee.  Recent work has, or is due to appear, in the Chiron Review, Evening Street Review, Paper & Ink Zine, Razur Cuts, Section 8, the Mad Swirl and at Horror Sleaze Trash.  He’s had a few chapbooks published, the most recent one by Analog Submission Press and if you want to know more follow him on Twitter @BradfordMiddle5.
