Desperate to get away.
The Wheels Roll on.
(Sequel to the Fiction piece, “The Driver Drove”
published in the Spring/Summer 2015 issue of The Stray Branch)
And the wheels roll on.
Faster,
Faster,
Faster,
The wheels roll on.
Too drunk to drive,
Too high to drive,
The wheels roll on.
Past the people,
Past the places,
The wheels roll on.
Past the daydreams,
Past the nightmares,
The wheels roll on.
Want to run away.
Need to run away.
The wheels roll on.
No need to stop,
No desire to stop,
Never going to stop.
The wheels roll on.

To date, his creations include a werewolf with social anxiety, a masochistic nurse with a tobacco-stained smile, a pink-slime monster obsessed with a simple-minded potwash, and a sentient sex doll with a thirst for blood. As well as completing a BA and MA in creative writing, Ash Medhurst has written and directed two stage plays; A Rock and Roll Musical with Vampires and a Monstrous Love Story. His published works include: Just like Jumprope, My Hungry Kitchen, The Driver Drove, Shedding, Playground Football, and The Lost Love.
