Is it just me
or do people really bite their nails
more than ever these days.
Is it possible
there's no salvation left
but gnawing on bits of body
we don't really need.
In a schoolroom,
a teacher's writing numbers
on a blackboard.
In an office building,
a telephone rings.
In bed, just before sleep,
a man is about to say
something important.
Is it just me
or do nails grow back
for such occasions.
