Exhaustion

by Roger G. Singer

The cloak

Of evening,

Thin with gray,

Formed silently into

Heavy linen,

Suggesting days end.

Night exhibited

Exhaustion

In a blanket of

Blackness

Forcing the air

Into sleep.

Without light

Shadows loitered

Quietly,

Like slumbering

Children.
